Copper Earrings Alorin

Some pieces change the way you carry yourself the moment you put them on. I made these for women who've stopped making themselves smaller - each fan is cut by hand from a sheet of copper into its precise semicircular shape, then hammered across its full two-and-a-half-inch width, strike by strike, until the surface holds the warmth of every blow.

Copper worn close to the skin has been worn for thousands of years, worn by people who needed to feel the sun's warmth even when it wasn't there, and the women who come back to me always say the same thing: something in them opened up again.

These are among the last earrings I'll make before I close my workshop for good. I hope they find faces ready to take up space.
