Copper Ankle Chain Alorin's Reed

This is the piece I spent the most time on – each thread of the braid woven by hand, over and under, the tension kept even throughout the work so that the pattern remains true to itself. I made this for people whose ankles and feet have borne burdens for decades without complaint, who need their circulation to keep pace with lives that aren’t slowing down.

There is something about the weight of this piece on the ankle – substantial, present – that people either notice immediately, or come back later to tell me about. Those who wear copper constantly say the same thing: they’ve stopped noticing what they once noticed.

This is one of the last ankle bracelets I will make before I close my workshop for good. I hope it finds the ankle that earned it.
